This year we are celebrating the life and times of Marie Laveau, the Voodoo High Priestess of New Orleans who reigned as the most powerful influence over the city for decades.
She lived from 1801 - 1881 and was succeeded by her daughter Marie Laveau II. We will be completely transforming the event space SECOND. into the streets of the french quarter with the main ballroom as St Louis Cathedral, and the main bar as St Louis One, Nola's infamous cemetery where Marie's x'd grave lies. Guests will enter into the Pontchartrain Swamp from the main entrance and make their way through Mardi gras float filled corridors to the main ballroom where there will be endless performers and artists throughout the night while NYC's hottest djs spin in collaboration with live New Orleans brass bands & West African tribal drummers. The whole evening builds up to a massive "Ball" in the cathedral hosted by FX Pose's Dominique Jackson, where NYC Houses battle on the runway along with a performance by our special musical headliner TBD. Guests then get the chance to battle on the runway and compete for best costume along with other categories for prizes.
